Statement from Sylvan Lake Minor Ball Association
Over the past few months a group of parents and volunteers have chosen to form a new softball organization in Sylvan Lake. While the way this development unfolded was unexpected, we want to take a moment to share our position clearly with our players, parents, and community.
Sylvan Lake Minor Ball has always been committed to supporting the growth of both baseball and softball in our community. In fact, had a formal proposal for a separate softball association been brought forward, our Board would have gladly worked collaboratively to support a smooth and positive transition over the course of the next season.
That said, the new group has chosen to move forward independently, and we wish them success in building their program. We want to see them succeed and for all softball players to have the opportunity to play ball in the spring. Our focus as a board remains on providing the best possible experience for all young athletes who continue to play within Sylvan Lake Minor Ball.
We also want to reassure our families that our programs, teams, and development plans for the 2026 season are moving ahead as planned. We remain dedicated to promoting a fun, inclusive, and competitive environment where all players can learn, grow, and love the game.
We understand there has been some confusion and misinformation shared in recent weeks. We want to assure our members that the Board of Sylvan Lake Minor Ball has always been open to discussions about how best to serve the community, provided those discussions happen in an open and transparent way. Our focus now is on moving forward positively and ensuring all families feel supported in whichever program they choose.
Our priority...as always...is the kids. We appreciate your continued trust and support as we keep working to make baseball in Sylvan Lake stronger than ever.
